Knifedge has re-branded and re-launched the classical record label Canary Classics. Canary is one of the new breed of artist-owned recording labels, allowing internationally renowned violinist Gil Shaham to take control of his recording activity and to deliver direct to audiences his own artistic take on the orchestral and chamber repertoire.
Knifedge directors Matthew Freeman and Timothy Bird have provided consultancy both for the establishment and ongoing management of the label and for the brand’s look and feel. The Knifedge team have re-created the label’s logo and mascot (the music box canary ‘Leopold’), designed the new CD packaging and the associated sales and marketing tools. Services also include negotiating distribution deals for international sales and marketing of the finished product.
An important part of the label re-launch is the new Canary Classics website. As well as allowing on-line purchase of Canary CD releases, the website provides further information about the repertoire, the artists and Gil Shaham’s touring calendar.
