BBC Case Study

BBC iPlayer

Launch Film

An informative, graphical, and promotional film about 'iplayer' for the launch of the BBC digital broadcasting platform.

The final piece was used, both in the traditional on-air environment, and output in a range of formats, including DVD, and numerous other codecs and flavours of digital delivery, from Quicktime to Realplayer, for presentation, on-line use, and to be projected at the ‘iPlayer’ press launch.

Working to an extremely tight deadline, the Knifedge creative team, led by Sandra Goddard and Jonathan Brigden was pleased to be involved in supporting this key announcement. As a landmark project for the BBC, there was inevitably strong emphasis on fulfilling the demands of numerous stakeholders. Knifedge collaborated closely with BBCi’s marketing manager to understand the scope of the project, the new iPlayer system and how best to explain it.

The scope of services supplied by Knifedge included design and direction, After Effects design and animation, 3D animation, music supervision, sound recording, off and online editing, duplication and digital encoding for a variety of uses.

What Our Clients Say

"Knifedge helped me out at very late notice to produce a short film for the high profile press launch of BBC iPlayer - the result was exactly what we needed. I'd recommend Jonathan and Knifedge to anybody needing to get a similar job done well."
