A 1950s B-movie interpretation of Rocky Horror
The concept for the 2008 European tour of Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror show was based around a disused film set, bringing to light the theme of a 1950s B-Movie.
The projection design illustrated this theme in its introduction to the show and scene setting during musical interludes.
David Farley created set models for the Church and Frank 'n' Furter's castle that were filmed and projected as well as a model of the earth, filmed against a star cloth. We also filmed a forest road that was used in Brad and Janet's journey, projected behind the car in the style of an old film technique.
Other elements of projection included the birth of Rocky Horror as a 'test-tube baby', which the actor interacted with upon bringing his character to life; blood for the silhouetted murder scene for Eddie's death; shadow-play love scenes and elements of CCTV to introduce characters entering Franks' castle.
