Sunday in the Park with George (featuring projection design by Knifedge the Creative Network) shows what happens when tv and film production values and techniques are used in a live musical.
The Knifedge Team (led by Creative Director Timothy Bird, - also responsible for a host of broadcast work, from BBC to HBO) has, together with set and costume designer David Farley, picked up all three major British theatre design awards (including the Olivier) in London, and now, since the show’s transfer to New York City’s Roundabout Studio 54, has collected the Drama Desk Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award and has received a Tony Nomination for Best Scenic Design.
Created by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, and directed by Sam Buntrock, Sunday in the Park with George brings George Seurat’s pointillist master piece (A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte) to life on stage through an interweaving of music, sound, choreography, fabulous performance, innovative design, lighting and projection.
Book tickets to see Sunday in the Park at www.roundabouttheatre.org- final show is Sunday 29th June 2008.
