Sequence to promote the summer of cricket coverage on the BBC incorporating TV, radio, interactive and online.

The sequence had to have a distinctive summery feel to it and had to be able to brand the coverage using it as backdrop or as a branding beginning and end board. The sequence had to work as one entire 15 second sequence and also as edited cut downs of 5 seconds.

Knifedge’s Sandra Goddard designed a bright colour palette of yellow, orange and light green hues, using flare effects to give the impression of sunshine catching a camera lens. We incorporated cricket coverage by rotoscoping cricket action over the top of an animated background.

This not only provided cricket content, but importantly was non-specific to a team or player, so it could be used for all matches over the entire season. The turn around was very quick with just 10 days from initial brief to final delivery. The feedback was very positive as the sequence stood out well in junctions and gave BBC cricket a distinctive look.
