Cleopatra
Knifedge’s Nina Dunn was commissioned to design and create the visuals for projections for a tour of the Ballet ‘Cleopatra’ produced by Northern Ballet and written by Claude Michel Schönberg.
The clean and effective design of the set provided a fantastic architectural white canvas, ready to be transformed by evocative projections. The projection in the Ballet was used to support both the literal and emotional narrative of the piece, taking on at times both architectural and scenic roles, as well as providing occasional lighting effects and a few key moments of narrative.
These wide-ranging creative imperatives meant that a full set coverage was required. But, being a touring show, this had to be achievable from very few projectors. In the end, Nina and Sam were able to fulfil the brief with a rig consisting of just two Barco FLM 20K projectors at the bridge. The show runs on a Catalyst media server.

“Christopher Giles’ white walls and central staircase are wonderfully elegant in their own right, while Nina Dunn’s video projections seamlessly evoke the sense of place with a brilliantly delicate touch.” – The Times
