World Indoor Athletics Championships – Opening Ceremony
Knifedge produced the content for the Opening Ceremony of the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
This international event was a very high profile event in the annual Athletics calendar. Knifedge’s Nina Dunn worked very closely with the artistic director of Australia’s ‘Great Big Events’ to weave our unique 3D projections into the opening ceremony. Nina was on site in the Aspire stadium to make sure the project was a success and ran smoothly. The event has been widely praised and this, the first international athletics event in Qatar, has firmly put the country on the map for hosting large scale events.
Eight projectors were used in total with content linked between the mats and between the front and back of the heliospheres.
Here is the main projection section, starting with the landing of the aerialists. Once docked, we then used the heliospheres as projection surfaces for a variety of additional items of content supporting the opening ceremony activity.
